Insurrection sweeps the Balkans

Insurrection against the corrupt global neoliberal system is spreading across the Balkans.

In Sofia, Bulgaria, protesters sick of the regime have laid siege to parliament and managed to trap 100 MPs and ministers inside for more than eight hours.

As ever, the authorities turned to violence to restore their control, and sent in cops to attack the public and rescue the hated politicians. 

Bosnians have also been taking to the streets in recent months amidst growing discontent.

Greece has been battling neoliberal tyranny for years now and the Turkish people have this year woken up to the reality of the global despotism which enslaves humanity in the interests of profit for the few.

The reaction of the system is only ever to notch up levels of repression. In the UK, for instance, a new law is being planned to give police the power to clear areas of people they “reasonably suspect” are engaged in conduct that contributes to “ members of the public in the locality being harassed, alarmed or distressed”.

Explains SchNEWS: "A dispersal order can be issued by any officer of the rank of Inspector or above and lasts for a period of 48 hours. It allows the police to specify how and when people must disperse.

"To not disperse will of course be an arrestable offence with a potential three months' imprisonment attached. The new laws will also give the cops the power to seize items used in the conduct of 'anti-social behaviour' as well as taking those aged under 16 to 'a place of safety'."

Neoliberal capitalists anywhere in the world will not surrender their power and wealth voluntarily - we are all going to have to "disperse" it for them.

Anarchists firebomb two banks in Italy

ANARCHISTS have claimed responsibility for firebomb attacks on two banks in Frascati, Rome.

A statement published on the 325 website states: "In the night of Wednesday July 18 2012, two banks were attacked in Frascati. Two molotov bottles and an incendiary device were thrown at the Unicredit bank and the BNL bank. Unicredit got completely destroyed."

The statement, signed off as being from the Informal Anarchist Federation and the International Revolutionary Front, says graffiti was left at the scene - an  encircled A and the slogan "The Earth is worth more than your money."

Explains the statement: "We can see and feel directly what they are doing to the Earth, to the animals, to anti-authoritarians, and this is sufficient to give a reason to our attacks, every time with more determination and strength… forward anarchists, let’s sabotage and destroy the present!"

It says the attack was "dedicated to those who are in prison, wanted by police, sentenced and searched…. to the anarchists hit by the repressive forces of the State/Capital."

Athens, Greece. Angry protests erupted after a 77 year old man committed suicide outside Parliament in Syntagma Square.

From the Greek Streets reports that the suicide note left by Dimitris Christoulas said: "The Tsolakoglou* [Quisling] occupation government literally nullified my ability to survive on a decent pension, for which I had already paid (without government aid) for 35 years.

"I am of an age that prevents me from offering a decent individual response (without of course ruling out the possibility of being the second person to take arms, should one person decide to do so), I find no solution other than a dignified end, before resorting to going through garbage in order to cover my nutritional needs.

"One day, I believe, the youth with no future will take up arms and hang the national traitors at Syntagma Square, just like the Italians did with Mussolini in 1945 (at Milan’s Piazzale Loreto)"

Montreal, Canda: Police arrested about 60 students opposed to planned university tuition hikes as they roved through downtown Montreal on Wednesday morning, at one point setting off a “pyrotechnic device,” reports the National Post.

California, USA: About 100 students protesting a plan to offer high-priced courses at Santa Monica College this summer tried to storm into a meeting of the college's Board of Trustees on Tuesday evening.

Police attacked protesters with pepper srapy for chanting, "Let us in, let us in" and "No cuts, no fees, education should be free," reports the LA Times.

Indian rebels blow up new police station

NAXALITE rebels in India have demolished a newly-built police station in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district.

Reports IBN Live: "A group of 50 Naxals assembled at the police station near Geedam area and asked the labourers present there to leave. They blasted the building using huge amount of explosives, police said, adding there were no reports of any casualty."

According to The Economic Times: "On Tuesday, dozens of Maoists [Naxalites] stormed into a two-storey building at Geedam town, some 10 km away from Dantewada town. They blew up the newly-constructed building which had been built by the state government at a cost of Rs.3.5 million.

"The building, which was ready to be handed over to the police department, was located barely a km away from the existing Geedam police station where about two dozen policemen were present at the time of the incident. But no policemen reached the blast site for several hours."

Following the incident, the state government transferred Dantewada police chief Ankit Garg and posted him at police headquarters to Raipur, official sources said. 

The photo shows Naxalite rebels with writer Arundhati Roy, who has explained the reasons for their uprising, in the face of massive anti-Naxal propaganda from the Indian state.

She said last year: "Over the past five years or so, the governments of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal have signed hundreds of memorandums of understanding – all of them secret – with corporate houses worth several billion dollars, for steel plants, sponge-iron factories, power plants, aluminum refineries, dams and mines. In order for the MOUs to translate into real money, tribal people must be moved. Therefore, this war."

Mexican anarchists torch Walmart

MEXICAN anarchists have torched a branch of US supermarket chain Walmart in Velacruz.

Said a statement from the CCF: "Over the 45 days since forming this new organization for antagonistic struggle, we have lashed out at the system of domination, showing that struggle is possible because the system is vulnerable.

"We’ve left behind the fear and indignation of the broken, and made the shift to decisive struggle against domination.

"We don’t want to change capital and the State, we don’t want to change their laws, we don’t want improvements, we don’t want to change technology, we don’t want to change domination. WE WANT TO DESTROY THEM!

"The supposed differences between electoral parties don’t matter to us, nor do the lies and promises of Peña Nieto, AMLO, Marcelo, or Vasquez Mota. THEY MAKE NO DIFFERENCE TO US BECAUSE WE FIGHT AGAINST DOMINATION, WHETHER RIGHTIST, LEFTIST, POPULIST, OR REVOLUTIONARY."

Hackers accused of inciting "cyber riot"

A NEW front in the global insurrection has evidently been established, with hackers now being accused of inciting "cyber riot".

Channel 4 was reporting on claims that the 2011 UK Census, collected by major war profiteers Lockeed Martin, had already been hacked.

This coincided with the arrest of a 19 year old man in England - who insiders deny was part of the LulzSec hacker group allegedly behind the apparent coup.

Says the report: "A cyber-threat expert at a major UK financial institution has spoken to Channel 4 News about what he sees as a 'step change' in activity by LulzSec.

"Authorities in Britain and the US have been trying to trace them for several weeks following apparent attacks on the CIA, the US Senate, Nintendo, Sony, the X-Factor and US television networks PBS and Fox. In the UK the group has also claimed to have found security flaws in systems at the NHS.

"The intelligence officer, who works to protect his organisation and wished to remain anonymous, said: 'Their aim is to expose 'laughable' security at big organisations. They are quite simple cyber attacks. But they appear to have got bored and moved on.

"'They went from targeting individual organisations to large initiatives - under the banner of the #AntiSec operation. That is a step change... it seems like the buzz [of the first alleged breaches] had worn off and they have thought 'can we incite a cyber-riot?'"

"He added: 'This kind of threat is definitely here to stay and whilst arrests will have an impact on LulzSec, hacktivism is here to stay'."

Naxalite rebels ambush Indian troops

NAXALITE rebels in India have struck a stunning blow against the armed government forces sent to crush them.

Reports Al Jazeera: "Authorities say hundreds of fighters ambushed a bus carrying Indian police officers, killing at least 70 paramilitary personnel in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh.

"In October, Al Jazeera interviewed 'Kishan-ji', commander of the group's armed wing, who said such attacks were 'directly related to the power of the state'. 'Eighty-five to 90 per cent of India's population lives under a dictatorship, it is not really a democracy,' he said.

"'The state is running a terror campaign against the people, and we fight against anyone who is perpetrating terror against the common population, be it any political party or the armed forces.'

Referring to the Chhattisgarh raid, Rubina Khan Shapoo, a senior correspondent for the private NDTV television station, said: "This is the deadliest attack so far and the biggest setback for Indian security forces'."

German anarchists 'declare war on state'

ANARCHIST attacks on police stations and political offices in Berlin and Hamburg over Thursday night were a “declaration of war” on the state, the head of the German Police Union (DPoIG) has claimed.

Reported The Local, an English-language news site in Germany, on Friday December 4: "Unknown perpetrators, assumed to be left-wing extremists, threw Molotov cocktails, paint bombs and cobblestones at Berlin’s Treptow district Federal Criminal Police (BKA) office overnight.

"Meanwhile local offices for the centre-left Social Democrats and the conservative Christian Democrats were also vandalised with anti-war graffiti.

"Around the same time in Hamburg, about 10 masked perpetrators attacked a police precinct in the Schanzenviertel neighbourhood, setting a police cruiser alight, damaging other police cars and breaking windows with stones.

"On Friday afternoon the Berliner Morgenpost also reported that a southern wing of the Chancellory had also been vandalised with three Christmas tree decoration bulbs full of paint."

The paper quoted DPoIG leader Rainer Wendt as saying that though no one was injured in either of the attacks they were a sign of a “new escalation in the spiral of violence”.

“The attacks were anything but spontaneous, and executed in an almost professional manner,” he said.

The Police Union took the incidents so seriously on Friday that they encouraged the conference of state interior ministers, currently underway in Bremen, to take immediate action, hardening criminal prison sentences for attacks on officers and increasing police personnel.

An 84-page study presented by Berlin Interior Minister Ehrhart Körting this November detailed left-wing violence in the German capital, describing the anarchists as “willing to hazard the consequences of major property damage and severe injury to people.”

In 2009, some 125 cars – many of them luxury status-symbol models – were purposely burned by Autonomen in Berlin. The number has more than doubled since last year, when 72 cars were targeted. Police in Hamburg reported 150 burned cars – 16 of which were proven to be politically motivated.

Wendt said without government support, such incidents will continue to occur.

“The investigation goes on, but I have little hope it will be successful,” he said. “This is a declaration of the war on the police and on the state.”

Naxalite rebellion is 'anarchist'

INDIA'S Communist Party has joined the capitalist establishment in attacking the growing naxalite rebellion in the country.

Reported The Times of India: "CPM general secretary Prakash Karat on Friday said ultra-Left in India was nothing but part of Left-sectarian and anarchist trend.

"Stressing the need for 'political-idelogical exposure' of Maoists in India, Karat, however, cautioned the government not to treat them as terrorists and even admitted that they had struck a chord among tribals and a section of intelligentsia.

"Giving out a historical perspective on the growth of Maoists in India, Karat said wherever Left has grown, there has been Left-sectarian and anarchist trends. He cited Lenin saying how petty bourgeoisie was drawn to anarchism when it experienced horrors of capitalism."

Deadly strike against Pakistan secret police

INSURGENTS have struck a deadly blow against Pakistan's notorious secret police, the ISI, with a spectacular suicide car bomb attack on their offices in Peshawar on Friday morning.

Much of the three-story building belonging to Pakistan's national intelligence agency was destroyed, according to reports.

Said Radio France International: "At least five security personnel working at the provincial headquarters of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) were killed, according to officials, who put the overall death toll at ten. A second car bomb rammed into a suburban police station, killing three police officers."

The ISI has been at the forefront of the US-led campaign against the Taliban, who have increasingly operated inside Pakistan during the US occupation of neighbouring Afghanistan.

But there are also well documented links between ISI and Islamist insurgent groups, with the ISI often seen as the go-between linking western intelligence agencies and their enemies in the so-called War on Terror.

Greek resistance strikes at police station

RESISTANCE fighters in Greece have carried out a spectacular attack on a police station in Athens.

Gunmen on a motorcycle fired on the state stronghold with automatic weapons late on Tuesday October 27, wounding six police officers, authorities said.

Said a report from Associated Press: "The attack occurred after Greece's new Socialist government promised to crack down on anarchist and far-left militant groups that have stepped up bombings and shootings in the wake of riots in Athens and other cities in December.

"Two officers were seriously wounded in Tuesday's shooting, which occurred at 9:40 p.m. (1840 GMT, 2:40 p.m. EDT) in the Agia Paraskevi area, north of the Greek capital, police said. Four other officers were hospitalized with less serious injuries, while a bystander was treated for shock, state hospital officials said."

Two men on a motorcycle stopped and opened fire on police officers standing outside the station before driving away. The gunmen fired about 50 shots, authorities said.

Officers from the police's anti-terrorism division gathered evidence at the targeted police station, while police stopped and searched vehicles across northern Athens - but failed to find the militants.

Last December police murdered teenager Andreas Grigoropoulos in Athens, bringing to a head years of tension and unleashing popular fury against the corrupt capitalist regime, which seems to have changed little since the 'socialist' election victory.
