Bomb wrecks Athens court

A POWERFUL bomb detonated outside a court building near central Athens on Thursday morning, causing significant damage but no injuries, reports Angry News From Around the World.

The authorities found the device and cordoned off the area around the Athens administrative court after calls to the private television station Alter and the daily newspaper Eleftherotypia at about 7:40am warned that a bomb would go off there in 40 minutes.

“In both cases, the caller said the device had been strapped to a scooter outside the courthouse and gave the scooter’s registration number,” said an officer at the Athens police headquarters who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly.

“The explosion occurred two minutes after the deadline,” the officer said, adding that police bomb disposal experts had gathered the remnants of the device and the vehicle and were examining them.

A local resident told the private television station Skai that he had seen two men dressed in police uniforms pull up near the court building on a motorcycle about 6:30am.

The witness said he greeted the men, who told him they were abandoning the scooter because it had engine problems. According to the witness, the pair then got into a white van parked nearby and were driven away by a third person.

The explosion damaged the facade of the court building as well as several cars, and also blew out windows in nearby apartment buildings.

The caller who provided the warning in the Athens bombing was described as a man speaking clearly in Greek.

The blast occurred in a densely populated area in the city’s Ambelokipi district, shattering windows and nearby shop storefronts in a 200-meter (yard) radius, and seriously damaging at least 10 cars. It sent up a cloud of smoke that was visible across the city.

Police said the bomb was stored in a hard luggage case in the back of a motorcycle reported stolen in a nearby area of Athens several hours earlier.

An initial examination of the site, suggested that the explosive Anfo — a mixture of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil used in construction but also in improvised explosive devices — was used, police investigators said. The material has been used in the past and seized in police raids in recent months on suspected militant safehouses.

Meanwhile, as Angry News also reports, shortly before the bombing in Athens, a smaller explosion occurred outside the Greek Embassy in Buenos Aires in the middle of the night.

“According to the initial findings of the Argentinean police, the blast was caused by a Molotov cocktail thrown by unidentified assailants,” the Greek Foreign Ministry said in a statement, referring to a crude incendiary weapon comprising a glass bottle filled with flammable liquid.

Communique from Argentinian rebels

A RESISTANCE group behind a wave of car arsons in Argentina has released this communique, posted on Angry News From Around the World.

We took to the streets again to practise what we say with our words and think with our brains. We feel the need to do so because, as we can see, a newspaper published an article in Villa Devoto about the burning of car in the barrio in which it speaks explicitly of the arrest of a person allegedly responsible for the attacks.

For this reason we are making it known that what they are saying in this newspaper and / or the police themselves is just a lie, they probably have not caught anyone, or if they did, they got a person who has nothing to do with this.

That is why yesterday, September 15, 2010, at the intersection Melincue Chivilcoy we set fire to a car around 23 hours. In addition, we claim responsibility for the burning of other cars before that.

As we always say, we are doing this to combat the destruction that society is causing to the earth, that is why we're not on its side and with these actions we are warning that we will continue to attack it to stop what it is doing to the world.
We know that they care little or nothing of what we say, but we won't get lost in chatter and writings, something that has already been done.

Only the comrades will understand, while those subjected to this system are so locked into the routine of work they have "need" of machines. We try to live differently.

Riots in Argentina after death in police cell

RIOTS have broken out in Argentina after a 21 year old ''committed suicide' in a police cell, reports Angry News From Around The World.

The young man was arrested outside a bowling alley and, two hours later, was found hanged in his cell.

A demonstration outside the police station in the town of Salliqueló in western Buenos Aires province nded in chaos: people burned tyres and a car and the police cracked down with rubber bullets and tear gas.

The suspicious death of Gilberto Giménez, a boy who had come from Mendoza few months ago and worked as a bricklayer caused a stir among the inhabitants of Salliqueló.

According to reports, the boy was arrested on Sunday for incidents on public roads, and two hours later, was found hanged in his cell.

Fabian Attorney investigating the cause Arcomano revealed this morning that the autopsy report "clearly indicated" that the cause of death was "suicide by hanging." That matches the version supported by the police.

However, the victim's father, Carlos Fernandez, it was not a suicide. "My son was bruised all over. They had cut his neck and disfigured him," the man told the cable channel Todo Noticias (TN).

The contestation caused commotion among the inhabitants of the town, located 500 kilometers west of Buenos Ayres.

The protest began last night, near 22 hours in front of the police concerned. First 150 people gathered, but that number was increasing over time. There were burning tyres and a Ford k, so firemen had to go to work.

"We put out the fire but the people, who were very angry, tried to stop us. The fire did not affect any property ", they said.

The protest was initially suppressed with tear gas, but continued to grow. Until later, police received reinforcements from other cities of Buenos Aires which added gas and rubber bullets, and dispersed the neighbours in the midnight hours.

Two Greek embassies attacked

GREEK embassies have come under attack in international solidarity actions supporting a jailed anarchist.

Reports the Latin American Herald Tribune: "Four people were injured and five others arrested in a clash between police and a group of protesters who threw stones and fire bombs at the Greek Embassy in Buenos Aires, Argentine police said.

"The protesters are members of an anarchist group that is demanding the release of Giannis Dimitrakis, a Greek anarchist sentenced to 35 years in prison for a 2006 attack on a bank in Athens.

"Three police officers and one of the detained protesters were hospitalized for treatment of wounds sustained in the disturbance.

"The clash started when demonstrators tried to set fire Tuesday to the door of the embassy, which is located in the La Recoleta district."

Meanwhile, Earth Times reports an attack on the Greek embassy in Prague, Czech Republic.

It says: "Unknown perpetrators hurled a flammable substance in the garden of the Greek embassy in Prague early Thursday, likely to protest the jailing of an anarchist in Greece, officials and an embassy source said.

"The resulting fire consumed a bush and damaged the embassy's entrance door, said Pavlina Adamcova, a spokeswoman for the city's firefighters.

"Police said the embassy was empty during the attack, which took place shortly after midnight and caused damage amounting to 20,000 koruny (1,036 dollars)."

It adds that the protesters sprayed the anarchist A and the name Giannis on the building's wall.

Carnival attack on global brand

MASKED radicals used the cover of carnival to attack a Benetton store in Spain.

Reported Angry News from Around the World: "Seven masked people entered the shop right in the centre of Lugo, giving no possibility of identification to the CCTV cameras.

"According to investigators, the group probably prepared the attack in advance, taking advantage of the carnival festivities in order not to attract attention.

"They believe, moreover, that there is some anarchist organisation behind it. In fact, in the libertarian forums news of the attack was spread extremely rapidly, including details of what was written on the walls of the shop.

"The damage to the inside of the shop was considerable. The authors of the incident broke the windows with clubs. The metal detector at the entrance was also damaged.

"Inside clothing was thrown to the ground, some stained with red paint.Computers and coat hangers were also damaged. The employees were not attacked in any way. The attackers were only concerned with material damage.

"The police have no doubt that it was a question of an attack in defence of the Mapuche community of South America that have been carrying on a struggle for a number of years against the controversial Italian brand."

Explained a campaign website: "The Italian fashion brand Benetton is well known for its 'provocative' promotion campaigns that appear to be socially critical.

"But the internationally operating company is itself involved in dirty deals. In south Argentina, Benetton has bought almost one million hectare of land.

"The local population, mostly Mapuche indigenous people, are forcefully removed from this area. They are calling for solidarity and action against Benetton."

Anarchists bomb banks in Mexico and Argentina

ANARCHIST insurgents have launched bomb attacks on banks in both Argentina and Mexico.

A statment from the Revolutionary Cells (Salvador Puig Antich Brigade) on Ai Ferri Corti said: "In solidarity with the international hunger strike being carried out by anarchist comrades, we used a medium-powered homemade device to attack a Banco Francés branch on the corner of Calle Corrientes and Calle Uruguay in downtown Buenos Aires.

"In this way we show the vulnerability of spaces controlled by capital, and the uselessness of its faithful servants.

"We salute all those who struggle every day against this system of misery and hunger, and we call on them to not lower their guard and to continue the campaign of offensives against the state and capital."

And a communiqué from the Animal Liberation Front/Earth Liberation Front in Mexico said: "At around 3 a.m. on December 24, we left an explosive device stuffed with dynamite at the BBVA bank branch in Ecatepec, Mexico State. At the same time, we left another one of our gifts in front of of the Kenworth company, which was being guarded by two state police patrols. Both targets suffered damage to their windows.

"We undertook this action on the same avenue (José López Portillo) where, a few weeks ago, the 'Unforgettable Vengeance Eco-Sabotage Brigade' detonated a gas canister bomb at a Banamex in Coacalco.

"The authorities didn’t imagine that other groups would again attack the same 'controlled perimeter,' and they left such targets vulnerable and ready for our packages of dynamite.

"The destruction of their social peace was inevitable when the fuse was lit and the device activated. The loud explosions echoed in the ears of those who sustain power and authoritarianism, gained at the cost of the destruction of the planet we live on, which in turn is mostly caused by companies like the ones we attacked this morning.

"BBVA is a deceitful company that manages money earned from the exploitation of animals, humans, and the Earth. Kenworth is tied to the construction industry and has contacts with businesses like CAT and CARSO, which are directly responsible for environmental devastation."
